How to choose the right bicycle for your kids
As children bicycles comes in many sizes, it is sometimes confusing which size of bicycle to buy for your growing kids. Back to the basic, a bicycle size refer to it wheel size. i.e. a 16 inch bicycle uses a 16 inch wheel. Adult bicycles are 26 inch bike, meaning they use 26 inch wheel.
Below is a table showing what size of bicycles is suitable for your child according to his/her height and age.

Personally, I feel that buying bike size according to your child height is most accurate. As you can see from the table, the bicycle size range from 12 inch all the way up to 26 inch which is the adult size.
Does it means that you have to buy 7 bicycles in your child growing up journey?
Not really as the bicycles seat is adjustable to a certain extent. So I will suggest getting a 14 inch, following by a 20 inch and finally a 26 inch progressively. Using these 3 sizes can cover your child riding journey to an adult size bike with best cost effective and minimal compromise.
Nowadays, in Singapore heartlands, it is sometimes difficult to find a traditional and affordable bicycle shop. Many professional bicycle shops are replacing traditional ones, and it is difficult to find a kids bike in those professional shops.
