How to remove YouTube grey side bars

if you update your YouTube app recently, you may notice that the side bar on the left and right side of you video becoming grey instead of black. personally i find it irritating and distracting when watching videos with these grey side bars. these grey side bars are a new YouTube feature called Ambient Mode which you can turn off in YouTube settings.
